Shopware

E-commerce Germany

Open-source PHP commerce platform for mid-market and enterprise. Alternative to Shopify and WooCommerce.

Details

Shopware is a German commerce platform built in Schöppingen on PHP and Symfony. The Community Edition is MIT-licensed and free to self-host: storefront, administration, catalog, and checkout, with the extension marketplace open to it. The current line is 6.7, at 6.7.15.0 in October 2026.

The paid product is Shopware Cloud, sold as SaaS or as PaaS on AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, and priced on gross merchandise value rather than per seat. Rise starts at EUR 600 a month excluding VAT and adds Shopware Intelligence, 3D, unlimited sales channels, and an eight-hour support response. Evolve starts at EUR 2,400 and adds the B2B components, advanced search, and dynamic access. Beyond is quoted, and adds digital sales rooms, multi-inventory, subscriptions, customer-specific pricing, and 24/7 support at a one-hour response. Shopware Intelligence+ is EUR 19 to 29 a month on top; Nexus automation costs EUR 10 per thousand executions past the included allowance.

Release 6.7.10.0 in May 2026 added an experimental Agentic Commerce sales channel that exports a JSONL product feed, with OpenAI’s Merchant Center as the first supported consumer; the October release moved Copilot Agentic to stable across several commercial modules. Against Shopify Plus the difference is that the code is open and the deployment is yours to choose, with the processing agreement signed against a German AG. Against WooCommerce the free edition costs the same nothing but is a Symfony application rather than a WordPress plugin, so it wants a PHP developer and real operations instead of a shared host.
