OVHcloud Domains
Domain Registration France
French ICANN- and AFNIC-accredited domain registrar by OVHcloud. Alternative to Namecheap Domains.
Details
OVHcloud Domains is the domain registration arm of OVH Groupe SA, the Roubaix-headquartered European cloud provider listed on Euronext Paris and majority-controlled (~81%) by the founding Klaba family. As an ICANN- and AFNIC-accredited registrar, OVHcloud sells generic and country-code TLDs with included DNS management, DNSSEC, DynHost, anonymised WHOIS, and email forwarding.
The domains business integrates tightly with OVHcloud’s broader hosting, VPS, and Bare Metal portfolio, making it a natural pick for buyers who want their registrar and infrastructure under one French roof. Buyers typically compare it on TLD breadth and pricing (notably .fr, .eu, .uk), DNS control depth, and the smoothness of the renewal and transfer flows.
About OVHcloud
The operating company is OVH SAS, a société par actions simplifiée with EUR 50,000,000 of capital at 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, RCS Lille Métropole 424 761 419, VAT FR 22 424 761 419. It is a subsidiary of OVH Groupe SA, RCS Lille 537 407 926, the listed holding company at the same address, registered in October 2011 under the holding NAF code 64.20Z. Octave Klaba founded the business in 1999 and the French register records him as chairman of the board and chief executive; Henryk and Miroslaw Klaba also sit on it.
Family control is not in doubt. At 5 December 2025 the Klaba family — Henryk, Octave, Miroslaw and Halina, plus entities they control — held 79.0% of the capital and 79.6% of the voting rights; employees, executives and directors held 1.8%, treasury shares 0.8%, and the free float 18.4% of 151,651,536 shares. The group reported EUR 1,085 million of revenue and EUR 438 million of adjusted EBITDA for FY2025, with 1.6 million customers and around 3,000 employees, and guides to 5-7% like-for-like growth for FY2026.
OVHcloud designs and manufactures its own servers and builds its own data centres, a vertical integration it credits for its price-performance, and it cools them with water of its own design. It counts 46 data centres on four continents, roughly 500,000 servers, 31 Local Zones, 44 redundant points of presence and 100 Tbps of backbone capacity, with a network of 150 mini-datacentres planned by the end of 2027. Its Bare Metal Pod, SecNumCloud Private Cloud and SNC Cloud Platform carry the SecNumCloud qualification from ANSSI, the French state’s highest cloud trust level, which is the thing no American hyperscaler can offer a French public buyer.
